I. EVANGELISM ~ Philip B. Box
LOCAL EVANGELISM
“…I am the light of the world: he that followed me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” John 8:12
Local Evangelism: To teach and encourage others to become disciples of Christ. “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.” (Mt. 4:19) This area supports personal bible studies conducted in homes, and group studies in the prison ministry conducted by our members. We teach in homes and the prison 52 weeks a year. Providing personal evangelism materials and aids make it possible to give each member the tools to help teach one-on-one. Materials also help keep the teaching of the gospel consistent from study to study and person to person. In addition we have a local yearly campaign for Christ that enables us to lead many to Him.
Locally: Baptize or Restore 10
1. Outreach visitation program:
- Follow up on all visitors/absentees within 3 days- Team Life Groups will lead in this effort.
- Visit families whose children attend VBS & all local Bible Correspondence students.
- Develop a welcome package and visit newcomers to the community.
2. Provide Bible teaching at the prison work camp, over the local radio, and other places as doors open for evangelism.
3. Enlarge the work of our “Team Life Groups” to follow up on new converts and seek opportunities to include and/or teach others. Teams are to be involved a minimum of 3 events per month: 1-Devotional Time, 1-Service Project, 1-Fellowship. See your Team Life Group leader for more information.
4. Bible reading and study by each member of the family here at Elba (Yearly Bible Readers). In 2010 our elders/deacons/ and staff, along with any other member young or old will repeat “Centurions of Scripture”.
5. World Bible School (WBS): Our Correspondence Course program has continued to grow despite still having only one teacher. Through written lessons sent via the mail, the gospel has been taught to more people all around the world . . . and at a very low cost.
Local Evangelism:

Evangelism Supplies $ 500.00
Advertisement $ 3,800.00

MISSIONS
“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your selves” James 1:22
PURPOSE: “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you; and surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Mt. 28:18-20) Members will also have an opportunity to participate in our mission efforts by being involved in our mission trips and efforts in 2010.
1. Open Door Ministry: Our congregation continues to work with Open Door Ministry in 2010! We started supporting Dr. Demar Elam more than twenty years ago, and he is today our man of action. The funds we send help with all expenses: salary, worship places, transportation, and other needed supplies for indigenous congregations in many parts of the world,
2. Amerindian Missions led by Jerry Davidson reaches many in Guyana, South America. We often send shipments and mission teams for some hands on involvement.
3. Good News Radio is a one-of-a-kind ministry, reaching many with the Good News of the gospel as well as encouraging patriotism. George Merritt leads the charge over our nation’s airways and the internet on a daily basis.
4. Mission Follow-up: These funds will help to get members of the congregation to one of our mission locations or bring a missionary to us. Follow-up is important in helping us be good stewards of the Lord’s money.

II. EDIFICATION ~ Doug Martin
WORSHIP SERVICES
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be
added unto you.” Matthew 6:33
PURPOSE: “God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship him in spirit and in truth.” (John 4:24) To provide appropriate resources for the assembly of worshipers at the Elba Church of Christ, and in doing so let us all worship in an orderly and inviting atmosphere. We are working to improve our song, study, and prayer service by using the full time and establishing a theme; coordinate songs with sermon.
Greeters and Lord's Supper
“…a doer of the work…” James 1:25
PURPOSE: To provide support for our Worship Service activities and to make all Visitors feel like VIP’s. It is our desire to have visitors feel welcome and for them to become a part of our family as together we worship God. Worship - - PRAISE GOD
FELLOWSHIP & EXHORTATION
“a cheerful look brings joy to the heart, and good news gives health to the bones.”
Proverbs 16:4
PURPOSE: To provide planned opportunities for fellow Christians to spend time with one another outside of regular worship times. Fellowship also encompasses the Ladies Ministry, Team Life, and others. Fellowship includes Wednesday meals each week immediately before Bible study. In 2010 we will also be involved in two retreats/camps, and other activities involved with supporting other area congregations. Each new family in our congregation receives a gift basket full of useful items. And the list can go on and on – give some thought to how you can be involved.
Keep company with good people and good people you will imitate. “Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.” Proverbs 27:17

EDUCATION
“Thy commandment is a lamp; and the law is a light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life.” Proverbs 6:23
PURPOSE: Paul writes in Ephesians 4:12, “for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the saints for the work of service; to the building up of the body of Christ”. We have been commissioned to teach our children and equip the saints for every good work. We generate much of our Bible school curriculum from in house resources, a considerable savings. Some materials are purchased and funds will also purchase supplemental materials for classes. The Resource Room supplies all materials and supplies for Vacation Bible School (VBS), nursery through Adults. Teachers also have ready access to resource books for lesson ideas and reproducible materials for student activities. Each summer, usually in June, we conduct VBS. Teachers must constantly be challenged to do better and taught to do better. We will host a teacher workshop during the year. We plan to purchase additional books and videos for our working library. We will also provide an outreach to our community by continuing to offer Sign Language classes free of charge.
Education: provide comprehensive equipping that will encourage obedience to the Lord. We will develop an education plan that will take us from 2008-2013 by providing the structure to:
1. Provide a growing knowledge of God’s word from nursery through adult classes.
2. Provide a teacher training workshop in 2010.

III. FAMILY SUPPORT & BENEVOLENCE ~ Junior Tyson
TEAM LIFE GROUPS
“and do not forget to do good and share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.” Hebrews 13:16
Fellowship: Opportunities for members to get to know & love one another.
Team Life “and do not forget to do good and share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.” Hebrews 13:16
PURPOSE: Together - Everyone – Achieves – More – Love – Involvement – Fellowship – Encouragement (TEAM LIFE) enhancing church communication and fellowship to provide a means of ministering to membership needs, and to reach out to new members and potential members. This includes the use of devotionals, trips, visiting others, sponsoring new families, all in an attempt to provide help to one another. “Team Life” must be a part of lives!
- Visitation and phone programs
- Sponsoring families for each new member to help them become part of the family and provide help with spiritual, physical, or emotional needs through small groups.
BENEVOLENCE
“…making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.” Ephesians 5:16
PURPOSE: “for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me…Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these, My brethren, you did it to Me…Come you blessed of my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you…” (Matt. 25:34-36) We work to provide for the needs of our brethren, members of the community, and transients. In reaching out to these, we try to help them through counseling in problems areas of their lives, including financial, marital, addictions, and especially spiritual areas.

IV. YOUTH MINISTRY & TECHNOLOGY
~Darryl Lamar
PURPOSE: Our purpose in youth ministry must be to work to meet the needs of young people. The only place to start is, to begin with Christ at the center of each life. Young people who choose to become Christians are making a very important decision! So it is our aim to train and develop our youth to be “His own special people”. (Titus 2:11-15)
SPIRITUAL LIFE - SERVICE TO OTHERS - SOCIAL TIMES
Closeness to God is the key to our true happiness as Christian young people. Luke 2:52: “And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.” Young people are an effective tool when it comes to evangelism. Their energy and enthusiasm can accomplish great works for the kingdom of heaven. Teens must be prepared to assume leadership roles in school, community, and church for Christ. By leading Godly lives, young people can be that necessary influence to their peers, as well as older people both within the church and in the community. Christ becomes alive and real as we see Him in each other. Our closeness with each other combined with our closeness to God builds relationships that reap incredible results for the cause of Christ.
