I. EVANGELISM
LOCAL EVANGELISM “… I am the light of the world: he that followed me
shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” John 8:12
Local Evangelism: “27 IN 2007” To teach and encourage others to become disciples of Christ.
“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of
men.” (Mt. 4:19) This area supports personal bible studies
conducted in homes and group studies in the prison ministry conducted by our
members. We teach in homes and the prison 52 weeks a year. Providing personal
evangelism materials and aids make it possible to give each member the tools to
help teach one-on-one. Materials also
help keep the teaching of the gospel consistent from study to study and person
to person. In addition we have a local
yearly campaign for Christ that enables us to lead many to Him. Locally: “27 IN 2007 Baptized or

WORSHIP SERVICES
“But seek ye
first the PURPOSE: “God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship him in spirit and in truth.” (Jn 4:24) To provide appropriate resources for the assembly of worshipers at the Elba Church of Christ and in doing so let us all worship in an orderly and inviting atmosphere. We are working to improve our song, study, and prayer service by using the full hour and establishing a theme; coordinate songs with sermon. GREETERS/LORD’S SUPPER
“…a doer of the work…” James
1:25 PURPOSE: To provide support for
our Worship Service activities and to make all visitors feel like VIP’s. It is our desire to have visitors feel
welcome and for them to become a part of our congregation as together we
worship God. Worship - - PRAISE GOD
1.
Improve the song service by using power point!
FELLOWSHIP &
EXHORTATION
“A cheerful
look brings joy to the heart, and good news gives health to the bones.” Proverbs 16:4 PURPOSE: To
provide planned opportunities for fellow Christians to spend time with one
another outside of regular worship times.
Fellowship also encompasses the Ladies Ministry, Team Life and others. Fellowship includes luncheons
following the morning worship held on the “1st Sunday” of each month
and a breakfast on the third Saturday of the month. In 2007 we will also be
involved in four retreats/camps, and other activities involved with supporting
other area congregations. Each new
family in our congregation receives a gift basket full of useful items. And the list can go on and on – give some
thought to how you can be involved.
Keep
company with good people and good people you will imitate. “Iron sharpeneth iron; so
a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.”
Proverbs 27:17 Fellowship: Opportunities for members to get to know and love
one another.
1. “Team Life” “And do not forget to do good and share with others, for with such sacrifices God is
pleased.” Hebrews 13:16
PURPOSE: Together – Everyone – Achieves - More - Love - Involvement - Fellowship - Encouragement (TEAM LIFE) enhancing church communication and fellowship. To provide a means of ministering to membership needs and to reach out to new members and potential members, this includes devotionals, trips, visiting others, sponsoring new families in an attempt to provide help to one another. “Team Life” must be part of lives!
Visitation and phone programs Sponsoring families for each new member to help them become part of the family and provide help with spiritual, physical, or emotional needs through small groups. Group activities to promote closeness to God and
each other:

Seniors Ministry
PURPOSE: To
involve our senior members in a ministry with meaning. Through planned gatherings, provide the
chance to encourage each other, reach out to others and explore areas of
stewardship.
VISITATIONPURPOSE: To follow up on all visitors within three days
of attending our services. Visit
families whose children attend VBS.
Develop a welcome package and visit newcomers to the community.
YOUTH
MINISTRY
PURPOSE: Our
purpose in youth ministry must be to work to meet the needs of young
people. The only place to start is, to
begin with Christ at the center of each life.
Young people who choose to become Christians are making a very important
decision! So it is our aim to train and
develop our youth to be “His own special people”.
(Titus 2:11-15)
SPIRITUAL LIFE
SERVICE TO
OTHERS
SOCIAL TIMES
Closeness of God is the key to our true happiness as Christian young people. Luke 2:52: “And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.” Young people are an effective tool when it comes to evangelism. Their energy and enthusiasm can accomplish great works for the kingdom of heaven. In 2007 there will be a Youth Campaign. Teens must be prepared to assume leadership roles in school, community and church for Christ. By leading Godly lives, young people can be that necessary influence to their peers, as well as older people both within the church and in the community. Christ becomes alive and real as we see Him in each other. Our closeness with each other combined with our closeness to God builds relationships that reap incredible results for the cause of Christ.
EDUCATION
“Thy commandment is a lamp; and the law is a light;
and reproofs of instruction are the way of life.” Proverbs 6:23 PURPOSE: Paul writes in Ephesians 4:12, “for the
equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the
saints for the work of service; to the building up of the body of Christ”. We are developing a comprehensive plan that
will take us from 2007 – 2012 by providing the structure needed. We have been commissioned to teach our
children and equip the saints for every good work. We generate much of our Bible school
curriculum from in house resources, a considerable savings. Some materials are purchased and funds will
also purchase supplemental materials for classes. The Resource Room supplies all materials and
supplies for Education: provide comprehensive equipping that will encourage obedience to the Lord. We need to develop an education plan that will take us from 2007 – 2012 by providing the structure to:1. Provide a growing knowledge of God’s word from nursery through adult classes
2.
Provide a teacher training
program to start in March 2007
III.
BENEVOLENCE
BENEVOLENCE
“…making the most of every
opportunity, because the days are evil.” Ephesians 5:16 PURPOSE: “for
I was hungry and you gave me food; I was thirsty and you gave me drink; I was a
stranger and you took me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you
visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me. …Assuredly, I say to you,
inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these, My brethren, you did it to
Me. …Come you blessed of My Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you….”
(Matt. 25: 34-36) We work to provide for
the needs of our brethren, members of the community, and transients. In
reaching out to these, we try to help them through counseling in problem areas
of their lives, including financial, marital, addictions, and especially
spiritual areas.
Get involved with community authorities and organizations to assist
with needs. ~ Red Cross
